Mini D-Fuse battled teams from all over the British Isles to win the title of SOAR British Street Dance Champions!

Entering the competition as the under 8s newcomer winners for the South East, the team had to fight off fierce competition from five other teams in their category to win the title.

The team won 1st place at the SOAR regional competition and secured their place at the championships which was held at the Trafford Soccer Dome in Manchester.

The competition ran from the 9th to the 11th March and was a fun packed weekend of competition heats and workshops with some of the top dancers and choreographers the industry has to offer.

Mini D-Fuse has come a long way since being formed in September 2016 by Dance Dynamics teacher Lauren Bowden and the school Principal Michelle Smyth with various competition successes, including gaining sponsorship from Digital Image Solutions Ltd and KRA Brown Electrical Services Ltd.

Mini D-Fuse Teacher Lauren Bowden had this to say about the young team.

“I am beyond proud of Mini D-Fuse for becoming British Champions at such a young age! It is something I will cherish forever. As their teacher I am beaming with pride. They have come on leaps and bounds since the troupe formed in September 2016. They live and breathe dancing and it is so lovely to see all their hard work pay off! I feel so lucky to have such an amazing winning team with such great kids in! The future is exciting for these dancing superstars! Watch this space!”

Dance Dynamics School Principal Michelle Smyth commented about the Mini’s success.

“I have been a principal at Dance Dynamics for 10 years and I have to say that this is one of my proudest moments when the students danced at the SOAR British Street Dance Championships… then when they announced Mini D-Fuse 1st place I was over the moon! The kids have worked so hard for this, along with the support from my team of teachers Lauren Bowden and Harry Short. I am also extremely proud of the other teams DFJ and D-Fuse who gained 2nd and 3rd places at Championship level.”

Digital Image Solutions Managing Director, Jerome Lawford also commented on the win “completely blown away by this team. They have shown nothing but hard work, dedication and determination to get to this level. Not only have they made their teachers and their school proud but also us as their sponsors, well done!”

With more competitions throughout 2018, perhaps the world is the next stop for this award-winning team.

Dance Dynamics was formed in 2008 and has three branches across Maidstone, the school offers a variety of classes from Ballet and Musical Theatre to Street dance, Commercial Jazz and Cheerpom classes and fitness classes for those who just want to get fit dancing. The school caters for all ages and have weekend and weekday classes available from as young as three years old.
